I’ve always been a fan of libraries. When I was a kid I used to ride my bike to the library and spend hours reading.
This is my new favorite library: The Ada Library (aka Amy Van Andel Library).
Why?
Books. Videogames. CD’s. Vinyl. It’s very quiet. I love the almost-brutalist exposed cement inside and the minimalist courtyard that fills the middle of the library.
But really, for me, it’s all about the nooks.
You can find some books and chill in a nook. Around people while simultaneously being away from people. The padding in the nooks deadens sound and makes things even quieter. They have power hookups. They have little desks that spin out.
Basically, the perfect place for an introvert to “get out of the house.”
